You should not have gotton H1B visa in the first place

its not only for IT professionals with Eng Degree
and there are many professionals stuggle to get an h1b visas even after engineering degrees. In your case, IGNOU is a shame. Its worse than University of Pheonix. Pheonix is one of the best available uni for long distance learning.
If you get a greencard in EB2, it will be a biggest mockery of the USCIS and department of labor.
Dont know what do you mean, as long as application is legal, confirming to law, it is as good as any other EB2 application.
Please dont pass judgements and refrain from spreading wrong information as factual statments. only suggestions should be welcome.

immigrationportal has reported only 2 cases of rejection for july 2nd filer. Their package returned back and received by party(around july 10th), per forum there.

From Greg's yesterday's latest response that there were very few which were returned/rejected on July 2nd itself and this thread proves that we are not alone ...there are so many and status is unknown. Matthew Oh is also suggesting that it will be receipted. I think we are all safe and with time we will get receipt. Nobody...none of the attorney's are suggesting refiling. Now the thought that whether my packet was properly filed or not? I think that will always be there in the back of one's mind but if the attorney has done his/her job correctly I think we should not worry. Its not rocket science and documents required for filing are well known...so I would discount this risk. It appears we are all safe because as we all know that no rejection notices have been generated, packets if returned should have come back by now as per Greg....All in all it all points towards our packets being on hold there at respective centers....but as you rightly pointed out..towards the last week of July keep calling centers to know..but even before that keep eye on check clearing as that by far is the best and earliest clue that all is well with the case.

Did you get your PassPort back? How many working days did it take to get it back counting from your interview date?
I had my H1 visa appointment on December 27th in Chennai. They said that my visa was approved and that I would recieve my passport within one week. I have not recieved it yet. I called up the Consulate a few times last week and initially they were saying that 'it would take another 2-3 days'. Finally when I called up on Friday the 4th, they said that another 7 days was needed for the PIMS verification.
Still no news......I was supposed to fly out on the 6th to report to work on the 8th but had to postpone my ticket.
Anyone else in the same position please share!

If figures provided to Senator are true and way Govt agencies working right now. I think first they will Put hard rule for Eb2 qualification. So almost they can shut door for Eb2. They may only allow 20k orless Eb2 in a year. For next 2 years no more spill over to Eb3. That way they can make Eb2 complete clear and becasue of tough policies it will remain C forever.
now in 2011 Eb3 will get almost major chunk of spill and it will clear Eb3 in next 2-3 years. Also new Eb2 and Eb3 will be stuck at labor and I 140 stage meanwhile. I am expecting that they may come up with new policy that if person does not have approved I 140 , cannot file I 485.
So People will be stuck at all 3 stages of GC. almost 8-12 months on each stage.This way they can remove almost 80 % backlog. Total will be 4 year to clean 80 % backlog. After 2013 there wll be only 200k pending 485 will be with them. Which is nice for them to approve 140k out of them easily in a year and leave 60k in a given year.

You have summed it up correctly. Comprehensive insurance from a reputed US company/broker like AIG (not TATA-AIG) is the way to go. I had the same for my parents. Luckily, there was no need for us to use it but I know friends who have used it and were not left in soup (it worked as well as it was supposed to work).
Recently, one of my friend's dad came to Texas and got sick and the bill came to $60K. Unfortunatley, he did not buy travelers insurance and is fighting an uphill battle with the hospital.
My parents are coming next month, so I did a detailed research on all the insurance firms, both in India and in USA and I found that most of the ICICI or Tata-AIG plans have limited coverage, which limits the number of days in an ICU or visits by doctors etc.. Even if the plan has a $100K max, the plan may only cover upto $1000 per day for 30 days or so and then there is limitation for ICU and other surgeries. However, if you take a comprehensive coverage, then whatever the expenses, or wherever the charges are incurred, it does not matter. The total amount upto $100K will be covered and it does not limit ICU charges or room charges or doctor visits etc.
The only reason we need an insurance for parents is to cover emergencies, rather than regular doctor visits. Generally, any emergency run 60-70K, so I would recommend a minimum of $100K and do a comprehensive coverage. I have worked with IMG or check this guy at http://www.visitorshealthinsurance.com/
I even called IMG to ensure that this guy is an authorized re-seller/broker for the insurance.
Additionally, I did not find any insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. So just pray that they are healthy during their stay in US.

I had gone through their presentation sometime back and they were basically complaining about how EB india gets most of the spillover and they don't (along with some common arguments about visa recapture, FIFO etc etc.) You should be able to get details from their class action doc against USCIS uploaded on the site.
when news of this class action lawsuit initially came out, lots of folks on IV were mad at why we were not joining in and that we should launch a barrage of lawsuits against USCIS as well. IV core at that time calmly explained that lawsuit options have been explored and will not be viable but few people listened.
Anyway a recent update on this forum shared that they lost the lawsuit. So on hindsight we saved ourself lot of time, effort and money.

I have an H1 transfer pending with Nebraska Service Centre....
My earlier H1 which was approved 1 year ago has been re-opened today...This is the status I see on USCIS web-site

Current Status: Case reopened or reconsidered based on USCIS determination, and the case is now pending.
We reopened this I129 PETITION FOR A NONIMMIGRANT WORKER on September 28, 2007, and are now reviewing our earlier decision. We also mailed you a notice describing the next steps in the process. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Our review should be completed within 30 days. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.
