One thing to notice, the Processing Dates are as of November 30, 2008 that is posted on Jan 23, 2009 for all 4 service centers.

OK, now that we all are agonizing over what's gonna happen, I think the following could be a possibility. USCIS has pre-adj almost 150,000 apps and has got nothing more to do now and the new Q1 for 2010 has around 35,000 visa numbers available to be processed.
Would DOS let CIS sit on their bums with not much to do other than process any new 485s that could be filed by ROW or would DOS move the dates to 2008 or 2007 so that any more people that still need to file 485 can do so and CIS stays busy. I think they would want to keep CIS busy. this would of course not mean every one of us will get approved since EB2/3 India and china only have around ~3000 visa numbers available in Q1 2010.

What do you mean Our Own people?
By initiating the process of Green Card (with the eventual intent of accepting a US citizenship) arent we differentiating ourselves from "them" the people from the other country.
It is the inevitable that all need to accept....we might spent half a decade or more to gain the permanent residence here...only to find that when we get that, the lady-boom is shining over the land whose very credentials we have been planning to shed, so then it will be time for us to line-up with the Indian consulates trying to get PIO card using Premium Processing.... ???

Just got my passport renewed at SF.
Applied in person and opted to get it back in the mail.
Got it in hand exactly in a week from application date...(pretty smooth)....
And i used 2X2 in photo instead of 3.5X3.5 cms....both are ok.
They will adjust it properly in your passport for you...

I will be using AP and also I have H1b stamp valid till may 27 th 2010.Is it necessary to renew the passport now or I can do it after I come back from India, is there any rule that your passport has to be valid for more than 6 months while enetring US?Please advice

No I am not......the lawyer said we reapply either with the prevailing rate of EB2 or EB3.
I spoke to another lawyer and she said as my 5th year end in the first week of Feb 09, I dont have much choice.......file another PERM immediately and concurrently find another company that has existing ads.
To add to all this, I just came to know my company wants to transfer the file to another lawyer! I dont know if thats a good idea!

What happens if your previous employer cancel the approved I140 before the new company files the for I140. I think you need at least 7-8 months to get Labor approved. I am pretty sure by that time, the old employer will cancel the approved I140. I am taking about big Consulting companies here where you can not negotiate to keep the I140 open after you resign.

You & your wife should talk to a good attorney about the possibility of using "interfiling" in case of a divorce. I was in the same situation as you couple of years ago & Shiela Murthy's office recommended "interfiling". If you need more information send me a PM

My wife, a derivative in my application, is holding up the process as it may affect her chances of getting a GC without any sweat. She has an parallel GC process running solely in her name, which I believe hasnt cleared PERM yet (some sort of audit). She is on H1B, extendable for another 3 years, and has EAD from my GC application. Will there be any implications on her application if the divorce goes through? And also, can I out of spite do anything to get her derivative application out of the queue :rolleyes: ?

Its always safe to have paystubs for atlease 180 days after your 485 receipt date. If they call you for an interview at local office during adjudication, which may happen after anywhere from weeks, months, or years, there are chances that you may be asked to produce paystubs starting from month before interview date all the way back to your first H1 entry into US.
Please do not open new threads for these question for which there are several thread opened and are being discussed thru. Why don't you ask this question on one of those post?

Talk to your own Health Insurance Company that your Company is Providing and ask for a quote.Even better is through your HR.Ask them to contact the company for adding your Wife. It shouldn't be too difficult i guess.

So, before taunting anyone you should understand the meaning of "Donation".

While I still hold my views , I can see IVs effort in other directions as well and that made me contribute to specific efforts.
